I thought I'd try out this forum. Cowls. I've been thinking about cowls. What puts me off knitting one is that it's knit straight and when it's on there is a lot of bunched up fabric under the chin. Why not knit a cowl like a backward beret? i.e. Cast on 50% more stitches than are needed and then reduce stitches down after 2 or 3 inches? So the cowl flares out at the bottom, falls a bit more down under the chin and isn't so much like a brace for the neck. I don't know what this would mean pattern-wise.
