Azula is named for the volatile fire bender from Season 1 of the Avatar. Flames twist and turn around the body of the Hat, with each form created by short rows and just a hint of garter stitch intarsia. Azula is the most challenging of the Elemental Hats, and is very much worthy of your patience.
Featuring short row colourwork, each of the Elemental Hats is knit sideways and grafted. This pattern is available individually, or as part of the Elemental collection eBook.
Azula is a sideways knit comfort fit Hat in garter stitch. It uses short row colourwork to create the look of flames all around the body of the Hat with a contrast colour for the crown. Short rows shape the crown, which is smooth.

Anne Marie Murphy –
Beautiful and pretty easy. I made this hat for my mom and she gets compliments all the time. I recommend a reasonable contrast between the two yarns and if one of them is a gradient or variegated that works particularly well.
