Diponaea – knitting pattern
$10.00
Sprays of dipped stitches suggest a Venus fly trap, but on the reverse becomes more abstract and more mysterious. Either way, there’s a distinctly organic, almost vegetal impression to the crown, a highlight of this design. Variegated yarns will look their best in this Hat, with the elongated stitches allowing each nuance of the changing colours to shine. Choose a solid contrast shade or go dippy with two wild colourways playing against each other.
Each Hat in the Inversion collection is worked sideways in two colours of DK weight yarn. The patterns can be adjusted for different head circumferences by adding or removing panels, and each pattern also includes an adjustment point for length. Each Hat is designed to be reversible and additional notes are included.
This pattern is available individually, or as part of the Inversion collection eBook.
Hat Description
Diponaea is a colourwork slouch Hat that is knit flat with short row shaping. It features dip stitches worked in a contrast yarn on a background of garter stitch. The dip stitches look like little shells and are staggered vertically and horizontally all the way around the Hat, and continue into the crown. The Hat is reversible. When worn inside out, there are noticeable ridges of the contrast colour through all the main colour sections.
