The first of the long awaited Lateralis Hats introduces the concept: sideways knit Hats with an intriguing new construction. In Duality, the Hat’s architecture is laid bare with high single-ridge arches that provide an accessible entry point to the short row colourwork method. Wear it with those stripes leading back from the face, or bending over it; there’s no one right way.
Featuring short row colourwork, each of the Lateralis Hats is knit sideways and grafted. Unlike other sideways knit Hats, these patterns aren’t constructed from panels, and they will lead you on an altogether different adventure. Different sizes are achieved by adjusting your gauge. Available as a single pattern or as part of the Lateralis collection.
Hat Description
Duality is a fitted Hat with stripes in two contrasting colours. Each stripe, which is a single ridge, starts on one side of the Hat at the brim edge and curves over the crown, ending after the crown shaping. The next stripe starts on the opposite brim edge and so on, so that only the crown shaping has stripes in both colours. The Hat has a different aesthetic depending on how it’s viewed, appearing like alternating vertical lines from one angle or concentric cane-shaped lines in alternating colours from another.
