This Hat is named for Echo, a nymph from Greek legend cursed to speak the last words said to her. Echo’s colourwork mirrors and reflects, in conversation with itself.
Each Hat in the Imperceptions collection is knitted bottom-up and in the round. The ideal yarn for these Hats is 4-ply or light sportweight, in a multi-plied fibre with some natural give, such as merino. The illusions look their best in two high-contrast colours.

Hat Description
Echo is a slouchy stranded colourwork Hat worked from the bottom up in two colours. The colours are equally weighted in the pattern, using single stitch and single row patterning. The Hat starts with a corrugated rib brim that’s finished with a lateral braid. The body pattern features columns of nested rectangles, which are reflected and repeated vertically all the way around, creating an optical illusion effect of repeating diamonds. The crown appears as concentric triangles, that reflect and repeat in the same manner before converging at the centre.
